Head Teachers’ message
Welcome to our final newsletter of the term.
All your children will shortly be bringing home their reports and, again, we are super proud of all our children. Their summer data picture has shown that we are still well on track to claim a ‘Good’ in our next Ofsted, and we almost can’t wait for an Ofsted visit! They rose to the challenges posed by COVID really positively and we’re looking forward to a more normal year from September.
We say goodbye to our lovely Y6 class, and wish them all luck in their secondary schools. For those families leaving us, we thank you for all your support over the years and hope to see some familiar faces back at June Rose Day 2022.
We look forward to seeing everyone else back in school, happy and healthy, in September.
Lesley Middleton & Kirstin Howarth

Congratulations Mrs Middleton
It is not only our children that work hard, but for the last 18months, Lesley Middleton has been working towards her National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH). We’re delighted to tell you she has qualified and we’re delighted for her.
Our Year 4 classroom was transformed into The Museum of Time recently as the children created their own fluency, reasoning and problem solving questions for display on the tables. Year 4 enjoyed being creative whilst applying their understanding of time! They then explored the museum and answered the questions to show off all that they've learned so far this term We were very proud of the vast amounts of knowledge they showed!! Well done Year 4, have a look at our class page for more photographs of the children
The weather was kind to us on Tuesday morning and the whole school came together for our Sports Day. The children were great at cheering for each other and the children put in great effort to win their races. We have uploaded some more photographs onto our class pages and gallery.
Year 6 were unable to go on a residential this year due to Covid but they all thoroughly enjoyed a sleepover last Friday. The children had an evening of fun with a BBQ, games and movie. It was after 3am before they were all asleep and they were all awake at 6am too!!
Leavers’ Assembly will take place on Tuesday 20th July at 11am. The restrictions will hopefully be lifted by then so, if the weather is dry, we will hold this outside and Y6 families ONLY may attend. If the weather is not good, then this will be held in the hall and only one parent per Y6 child may attend. This is so that the risk to children and staff remains minimal so that they do not have to isolate prior to any planned holidays.
Final Day : Tuesday 20th July - There will be no end of year picnic for families, however all parents can collect children from 12pm should you wish. Otherwise we will remain open until 3:30pm.
September 2021 Return - Term dates are on our website. However, as a reminder children in Y1 to Y6 return to school on Friday 3rd September and children beginning Year R start part time on Tuesday 7th September.
We are looking forward to re-starting after school activity clubs in September. We will start a KS2 Dodgeball Club on Tuesdays (starting 7th September) and a KS1 Football Club on Thursdays (starting 9th September). These will be run by LM Academy and a flyer will be coming home next week with details how to book online.
If you’d like to share in our Worship, these are still being made available on our website: https://www.weldonceprimary.co.uk/assembly-and-worship/
As always, many thanks for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact Lesley Middleton or Kirstin Howarth, should you need.
