Head Teachers’ message
Term is now well underway with the vast majority of our children having settled well into their new classes and looking very smart in their new uniforms. We are no longer in Covid Bubbles and so are enjoying being back together for Worship, break and lunches. The rest of our Covid Risk assessment seems to be keeping Covid at bay – thank you for all diligently keeping your children off if they are unwell and for abiding by the new regulations. Hopefully after the holiday we can begin to welcome parents back into the building again too.
All teacher’s overviews of work for the term can be found on the class pages of our website, so do keep an eye on those. Likewise, you can find details and examples of our Maths teaching there so if you want to help your child with homework, this might be a good place to start.
We’d like to ask that all parents of children in Year R-Y2 listen to their children read daily. If you can squeeze in an additional 5 minutes working on their key words and sounds, this will make a huge difference to them. We are planning on holding a Reading Meeting for parents after the holiday. For those of you in KS2, once your child is a reader, then two sessions a week at home should be a minimum to aim for. Please record when you hear your child read in their record. Thank you.
We are, of course, in the run up to Harvest Festival and we’re looking forward to our Reception Class sharing Harvest thoughts with us. As always, please contact us should you need to speak with either of us.

Welcome to Reception Class
Our Reception Class children are now full time and are settling in well. It is lovely to welcome new families to our school.
For children starting next year we have school tours planned:
Wednesday 3rd November, 1.30pm
Thursday 2nd December, 9.30am
Wednesday12th January, 9.30am
If you would to join our tour then please contact our school office, thank you
New Sports Equipment
The children are delighted with our new outdoor fitness equipment on our school field, this is a great addition to our all-weather running track.
Pre-Loved Book Sale
Our School Council have been holding Book Sales during lunchtimes, thank you for supporting this, the money raised will be spent on new books.
Our library was fully refurbished before the Summer holidays and we are delighted with the result. We now have lots of empty shelves just waiting to be filled with books to excite the children with their reading!
There are a few children in non-uniform PE kit. Please see the attached uniform policy and ensure your children are in plain black joggers, no logos and no sparkles! Thank you
Pre-Loved Uniform Sale ** POSTPONED**
We had great parental feedback last year when our Parent’s Evenings were held by videocall so we are holding them this way again. Appointments are booking quickly, get in touch with our school office if you are having any difficulties getting booked in.
As we return to normality, we would like to form a new PTFA committee to organise and run events in school. If you are interested in being part of the committee (we’d need a chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer and a band of willing named members), please could you contact Lesley or Kirstin via email in the first instance. We hope to hold our first meeting after half term.
Christmas in School
We are busy planning for next term and have already planned a Christmas Experience Day, Christmas Lunch, a Christmas Service in Church and Christmas Rock with our Music Teacher’s Band. Children will be allowed to wear their Christmas jumpers on a couple of days so it’s not too early to think ahead for this!
We are hopeful that a Nativity can be performed this year, our School Covid Risk Assessment is constantly being revised and we are unsure this early if this will allow an audience or if it will be videoed for viewing through our school website.
Reminder – we close at 1.30pm on Friday 17th December for the Christmas holidays.
Monday 11th October - Photographer in School, individual + school siblings if you’ve requested this by emailing email@example.com (sorry no pre-school or younger children)
If you’d like to share in our Worship, these are still being made available on our website: https://www.weldonceprimary.co.uk/assembly-and-worship/
As always, many thanks for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact Lesley Middleton or Kirstin Howarth, should you need.
